Waiting on Wednesday: Damn Fine Story

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine where we readers salivate over the books we wish were on our bookshelves yesterday.

This week’s victim: Damn Fine Story: Mastering the Tools of a Powerful Narrative by Chuck Wendig
Publication Date: October 18th, 2017 by Writer’s Digest

So, as I mentioned in my review of Invasive, a novel also written by Chuck Wendig, I stumbled upon his blog, Terrible Minds, and fell in love with his writing style, his humor, his wit and his brash honesty. His blog made me want to read Invasive, which I enjoyed, and I’m hoping to read through his other works as well. But considering that his blog is one of the few where I never miss a post–plus the reasons I mentioned above for loving his voice and writing–when I found out he was publishing a book on narrative, this writer was jazzed.

Actually, in his words, the book is “all about the fiddly bits of storytelling — creating great characters, growing narrative organically, identifying and creating theme.”

I can only imagine it has the same elements his blog has, only instead of waiting for the next blog post (which you never really have to wait very long, since he posts pretty consistently, unlike some of us *coughdefinitelymecough*), I get to devour an entire book of hilarity and insight all in one sitting, before I go back and actually read it properly and learn shit.

Oh, and hopefully I can become a better writer, in the progress.

So yeah, I’m ready for next month to indulge in this beauty.
