Quest for Discovery

Quest for Discovery: Week Twenty Four

Hello, friends!

So, this is sort of an odd feeling. Last week, I finished a rough draft of Blood Price (blog post to properly freak about it to come this week), three weeks early from my self-imposed deadline of June 30th. Because of that awesomeness, I’m going to spend the rest of the month relaxing and not doing anything writing related, really. Instead, I’m going to try and catch up on the ARCs I’ve been given and on this blog, which definitely got a little neglected these past few weeks. I’m excited about both of those prospects, but it’ll be weird to not write for a bit, after spending the first six months of the year writing the first drafts of two different books. Then, starting after Independence Day, I’m going to go back to the editing grind, first with Blood Price, so I can send it to beta readers over the holidays and then with my Artemis quintet, with books one and two.

Until then, I have a lot of books to read and a lot of sun to enjoy.

Long-Term Goal: Write two new books and edit two books. Enter the query trenches.

Last Week’s Goal: Write 5x. Finish novel?

  • Status: Affirmative, Commander. NOVEL FINISHED. Celebration post to follow.

Weekly Goal: Enjoy writing break.

Long-Term Goal: Read every day, finishing up some old series and keeping up with new ones.

Last Week’s Goal: Read every day. Write review.

  • Status: Affirmative, Commander. No new reviews last week, but definitely have been enjoying A Demon In Silver, which I’m a little over halfway down with. Hoping to finish it tonight and get a review written up for tomorrow, when it releases.

Weekly Goal: Read every day. Write review.

Long-Term Goal: Continue living a healthy lifestyle and shaping a body I love and am proud of.

Last Week’s Goal: Workout 5x. Log food.

Status: Affirmative, Commander. Thanks to working nights again, I’m back to my running routine–and oh boy, how I missed it. My body is pretty sore and my pace is completely shattered–though my pace still hasn’t regressed back to the point when I first started running, at the end of 2016. Didn’t eat that great over the weekend, but still making forward progress!

Weekly Goal: Workout 4x. Log food.

Long-Term Goal: Learn to have a healthy relationship with money and build my savings.

Weekly Goal: Get back to being a little more frugal and watching my money more closely.

  • Status: Negative, Commander. Definitely need to start monitoring closer, as I’ve been spending a lot more than usual lately.

Weekly Goal:

Long-Term Goal: Reconnect with God and grow personally to live more like Jesus.

Last Week’s Goal: Start devotional whenever God wills the post to arrive.

  • Status: Affirmative, Commander. Ironically enough, the devotional came in the day last Tuesday, the day after I posted my weekly update. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting I have it, so I need to be more focused/purposeful in that regard.

Weekly Goal: Start devotional. Continue to pray and trust in God more.

Carpe Diem
Long-Term Goal: Find a reason to smile every day and something to get excited about weekly.

Last Week’s Goal: Get used to my new summer schedule.

  • Status: Affirmative, Commander.

Weekly Goal: Enjoy my writing break and get stoked for Sporting this weekend!

I’m still trying to get used to being a sweat bucket, though these summer temperatures (especially when they hit the triple digits, like today) are quickly helping me remember what that’s like, i.e., a lot of tank tops and carrying deodorant in my purse. I’m excited to take a moment to breathe–feels like I’ve been struggling to keep up these past few weeks. So just trying to enjoy the more relaxing atmosphere of the summer, while still staying productive and keeping track of my goals. It’s always a balance, but it’s a good one.
