Quest for Discovery

Quest for Discovery: Week Thirty Eight

Hello, friends!

Last week was a pretty lovely week.

I mentioned before that it was getting pretty rough, mentally, so I needed to work on my mindset. A friend mentioned that it might have just been a rough patch and I think she was, in part, right. You can’t be happy all of the time. But also, focusing on the goods and the positives definitely helps me stay motivated and realizing how great life is. I still had some hiccups and I still have a long way to go–especially when it comes to strengthening my confidence within myself–but for a restart, I can’t complain one bit.

PB4Writing
Long-Term Goal: Write two new books and edit two books. Enter the query trenches.

Last Week’s Goal: Edit 5x.

  • Status: Affirmative, Commander. So, it only took one more editing session to not only knock out the ending pages, but also write the new epilogue that I’m pretty stoked about! And then it was polishing my query, double checking the availability of the agents I’d already researched and now ARTEMIS: TVMQ is out in the wild once more! Because of the urban fantasy market right now, I don’t have huge high hopes for it, but I also couldn’t not try it.

Weekly Goal: Start mapping out edits for BLOOD PRICE. And then, begin editing.

Reading
Long-Term Goal: Read every day, finishing up some old series and keeping up with new ones.

Last Week’s Goal: Read every day and write review.

  • Status: Affirmative, Commander. I finally read the oldest ARC on my backlog and it turned out to be a really fantastic–and thought provoking–read. I’m still waiting for the latest batch of September/October books to arrive in the mail, a couple of which are sequels to books I’ve always meant to read, but then missed when they are published. So starting the first book, You Die When You Die by Angus Watson, of one of those series tonight and pretty stoked for it (also still trying to work on my backlog, because oof).

Weekly Goal: Read every day and post review on Friday.

Fitness
Long-Term Goal: Continue living a healthy lifestyle and shaping a body I love and am proud of.

Last Week’s Goal: Finishing crafting new routine and try it out.

Status: Affirmative, Commander. So, I love this new routine so far. Basically, I’m doing less cardio and more strength training, mostly because since I moved, I lost the close trail I was running at and it’s harder to run close where I’m at and I’m trying not to spend too much time driving too and from places to go run. So, I alternated, doing:

  • Monday: Arms and abs
  • Tuesday: legs, back and butt + cardio (walk)
  • Wednesday: Arms and abs
  • Thursday: legs, back and butt + cardio (walk)
  • Friday: Cardio (walk)

At least, that was my goal. Thursday, I didn’t do cardio thanks to going out to lunch with my Mom and then Friday, I was going to skip cardio to play more PS4, but then my boyfriend took a half day and asked if we could go walking together, so then I was absolutely down (and super glad he motivated me to do it). I really like the strength training exercises I found. They are super challenge and I can feel my body working, which is great. So I’m excited for the second week here!

Weekly Goal: Workout 5x and try not to spoil on my progress my poor weekend eating,

I’m also really stoked with how the blogging schedule turned out last week. I was able to post all the times I wanted to, both on the personal side and the book blogger side, but all in one site here. And that was really, really nice. I definitely am going to try and keep it up, though of course that isn’t going to be the case every week. But, on top of that, really excited to get started editing BLOOD PRICE this week and love that I found a workout routine that seems to be working. Not oddly, but if my writing and working out seem to be going well, then life seems to be going well, too.

Which is perfectly fine by me. Now, just waiting for true fall weather and all the exciting things happening in the next couple of months. Hope you have a productive and positive week!

Cheers.
