As we all know, I didn’t read nearly as much as I wanted to last year (though I did end up buying more books than I usually do, so this is an interesting twist of events). So, something I wanted to try was to make a monthly goal TBR, to see if I can get excited about some of the books I have waiting for me to read, as well as hopefully limit the “what do I read next” overwhelming feeling that I get every time I finish a book. It’s going to be ambitious and prolly impossible to read all the books I want to, but I’m doing this to have fun and just try out something new. So, let’s see how it goes!
Books I Want to Read in January
Goal # Read: 4-6 Books
Books on this List: 8 books
The Kingshold series by D.P. Woolliscroft
I am very lucky to be working with Dave on the 5th installment of this series early this year as an editor, with very large shoes to fill, following in the amazing Bethan’s steps. So, that means that I need to read the previous first four books to make sure I’m caught up and ready. Lucky for me, this series was already on my radar and I wanted to read this anyway, but now, I have a timeline attached, so I’ll stop waiting and actually get to reading these and seeing what all the hype is about!
Jady City by Fonda Lee
I have heard such great things about this series and, with the third book coming out this year, I need to finally join this bandwagon and catch up.
The Girl With Ghost Eyes by M.H. Boroson
I’ve also heard some really awesome thinks about this book (first on my radar from Tammy @ Books, Bones and Buffy) and my Mom was kind enough to get it for me for my birthday, so I think I might try and give it a spin this month!
The Captain’s Rebel by C.B. Halverston
I don’t know much about this book, only that it’s a sea romance. And I want more sea romances in my life, so let’s go (also, if you got recs for pirate-y romances, HIT ME UP).
How to be an Anti-Racist by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi
I also have an intention, like I mentioned in Friday’s post, that I want to read at least one anti-racist work a month. No better place to start than Dr. Kendi’s work!
So, it’s a bit ambitious, to go from reading like, a book in a last two to three months, to waiting to read eight. But I miss reading, gosh dang it, so let’s see how it goes!
What about you? Do you like making monthly TBRs? If you do, are you able to follow them or do you usually abandon them for mood reads? If you don’t make them, why not? See any favorites from my recommendations or books you might add to your own lists, now that you’ve discovered them? Let me know in the comments and thanks for reading!
