Hello, lovelies.
As you may have seen or heard, your girl is starting a new job next Monday (I’m not having panic dreams where I wake up sweating because I’m late or make a fool of myself and I’m not nervous at all, why do you ask?) and I am finally switching to the oh-so-sought after 8am-5pm schedule. It’s something I’ve wanted for a long time, for many reasons and I’ve talked about it a lot on here, so I won’t bore you with rehashing that discussion.
I did want to take a moment to be real with you all, though. My last job (which, my last day is tomorrow and yesterday my students threw me a party and gave me cards and cake and a picture of them and I’m not sobbing, you are) was great in the sense that I was able to write posts or blog hop during the slow parts of my shift, allowing me to–on a good week–upload five posts a week on average.
My new job isn’t going to allow for that.
Like, at all.
So, like many other creatives, I’ll be working away at my day job to pay my bills and saving my evenings for my passions: writing, reading, gaming and, of course, blogging. I have no intention of stopping this blog–it’s too important to me to do that–but I do believe I am going to have to tone it down a notch.
So, starting in January, this is my new, tentative posting schedule:
Sundays: Prep posts and blog hop
Mondays: Book Blogger Related (Discussion/Tag/Monthly Wrap Ups)
Wednesdays: Writing Updates and Random Musings
Fridays: Book Review
So, I’m looking to attempt three times a week instead of five. I’m in no way planning to stick to this religiously and I’m okay with deviating from this schedule, like when there’s a Top Ten Tuesday tag I want to participate in or I really need to rant about a personal topic and it just so happens to fall on a Monday. *shrugs* I just wanted to have some semblance of a schedule laid out, not only for any who are curious, but to try and give myself a benchmark, too, so I hopefully don’t go weeks upon weeks without posting anything at all.
I did want to apologize up front that my posting will probably be less in volume, as well as my blog hopping and comment response times will be a little slower. I also probably won’t be on social media as much, since I’ll have to use my evenings to write my own novels and edit client work, too. Add in the holidays and going on vacation and well…it’s going to be a little sparse here, for a bit, while I get things sorted and adjust to this new job! But I hope to start truly using that new schedule outlined above come January.
I’m not disappearing, but I won’t be as active as I used to be or as I want to be. But, for the search for happiness in my career once more, I hope it’s worth it.
Cheers.
There is a good work-blog life balance to be found. Keep on blogging my friend.
Good luck with your new job!

Thank you so much!
You go girl! I have faith in you! It’s going to take some time to adjust, and you might find that posting 3 times a week it too much, or even that you can bump it up to 4 times a week.
Congratulations on the new job and best of luck with the blog!
XO Steph
How’d day one go!?!?!?
I know how the day job can interfere. It’s part of the reason I pretty much only write reviews and post in the weekends with a few exceptions. You’ll find a new rhythm though.
It went really well, thank you! I am SO excited about this job and think I can do some really good work here. But I am definitely struggling to adjust to the whole new schedule and balancing and everything (and getting sick on top of that), but I am trusting that I’ll find a good balance (prolly after the holidays).
I hope all is well with you!!!
I hope that the new job has been going well, Nicole and that you have managed to adjust a little bit to a new schedule. I’m sending you lots of love and all the best wishes <3 <3 <3
You are seriously the most kindest soul and I don’t know what I did to deserve your friendship! *cries*
Ahhh you are just amazing, that’s all!! <3 <3 <3
