So, because I won’t be able to continue this post without the incoherent screeching. BLOOD PRICE IS GETTING PUBLISHED. 🎉🎉 Given, I’m publishing it, but it doesn’t change the fact that, starting October 1st, YOU can read the book of my heart!

I’m so, so excited, friends. This has been so hard to keep a secret, so the fact that everyone will finally know feels so relieving. (And terrifying, if we’re being honest.) The Quest of Bringing Blood Price to Life

This novel has been a long time coming. BLOOD PRICE may be my debut, but it’s well beyond my first foray into novel writing. My debut novel is actually my ninth completed manuscript since I started writing novels back in middle school. It’s also the novel I worked on the longest, starting it in…2015? 2016? I honestly can’t remember. But, the final draft I’m publishing is the 13th version of this novel, serving as my debut a month before I turn 32. I queried it for four years and (obviously) got nothing but rejections.

So, to make it clear against the writing advice that shows up on the internet every day. It’s not too late to write your novel. Your insert-age-here isn’t too old to get published. You can write slowly and still get published. The first draft isn’t always the published draft. Getting published doesn’t happen overnight (or, in my case, the same decade!).

Don’t let publishing’s “rules” stop you for telling the story you want to tell.

Last December, after six months in therapy and escaping from my toxic day job, I felt myself as a creative returning. And I decided that I wanted to stop sending my books to the query trenches to die. BLOOD PRICE means so much to me (I go more into detail about that in Friday’s newsletter!). It’s a novel I wanted the world to have; a story I wanted to give an ending that wasn’t just sitting trunked in a folder on my Google Drive.

It’s taken a lot of work, but we’re here! So, let’s talk about all the details you need to know about BLOOD PRICE and her release.

To save her people, Ashilde’s journey forces her to answer the ultimate question: is she willing to pay the price asked of her, now that she can no longer pay in blood?
