As I discussed in an earlier post, my life is a bit…chaotic at the moment. So, I wanted to take a moment and hype up some of my editorial services, as well as detail some updates, as I try to make them a bit more accessible.

So, let’s check them out!

Editorial Services Reminder

So, in case you’re new here or in case you didn’t know, I offer editorial services! Due to my intensive background as a writer, editor and reader, going down this line of work just made sense. (Though, I was helped a lot along the way.)

I offer a couple different types of services, including:

• Full Manuscript Edits: one of my favorite things to do is dig into the heart of the story and help ensure it’s at its top strength, from foundation to the very words used. Whether developmental, copy edits or proofreads, I have options for all!
• Traditional Publishing Prep: if you’re planning to traditionally publish and find representation, you’ll need your submission materials in top shape. I have packages for query letters and your synopsis. Or, the very popular 1st Impressions Package!
• Short Stories and Custom Packages: More into the shorter side of storytelling? Don’t worry, I got you covered.

Helping writers improve their stories is honestly one of my favorite things. Not only because I can help elevate your stories, but I want to support you every step in the process.

Updates

I also wanted to let everyone know about some editorial updates I’ve made! Not only have I updated my editorial services page to be a little more navigationally-friendly. But, I’m also implementing two permanent discounts for writers in underrepresented communities by publishing. Mainly: marginalized writers, queer writers and those who self-publish their books.

As a queer and disabled writer myself, this is really important to me. Publishing gatekeeps so much. And I know, for those trying to pay for edits out of pocket, it’s really, really hard sometimes, especially financially.

That’s why, from now and going forward, anyone who hires me for a full manuscript edit (developmental, copy editing or proofreading) who is part of a marginalized community or is queer, will receive 10% off their edit. No need to disclose how, just simply let me know you want that edit and I’ll trust you!

For those who plan to self-publish, you’ll receive 10% off your first edit, if booking a full manuscript edit.

It’s not a lot, since I also still need to ensure my prices reflect a) the amount of work I put into these edits and b) help me pay my bills. But, I wanted to do something. Those who use these discount are also, always, still available for payment plans!

Availability

If you’re looking to book, it’s always good to book in advance, as my calendar can sometimes fill up quickly! I’m pretty booked up for larger projects in April and May, but I can still take smaller work (so, publishing prep or short story packages).
