Hello, friends. It’s been quiet on this corner of the internet, hasn’t it? For over a year, I’ve neglected and ignored (and sometimes forgotten about) this space. That, paired with how the website has been restructured, has probably clued you into the topic of this post, if the title—an end of an era—hasn’t already done so.
It’s bittersweet to acknowledge and even moreso to announce, but I am officially done with my book blogging era.
The Era: 2014 – 2024
I started book blogging way back. Some of my oldest posts were from, like, 2011. 💀 But I really was consistent starting in 2014 onward. I regularly posted book reviews, discussion posts, monthly wrap-ups, tags—all the standards for book blogs! I kept going even as Bookstagram and BookTok took over. I enjoyed it immensely. I made some of my greatest friends in these spaces. I was—and still am—so proud of this space.
But then, in Oct. 2024, I became a published author.
Why I’m Stopping
In full transparency, I had every intention to continue book blogging even post author era. But, after becoming a published author for the first time and then leaving my toxic day job to freelance edit full-time, things got hectic. Suddenly, not only did I not have time to review books or check out the latest tag to join, I was hardly reading at all. (I think I read maybe 20 books last year?)
As I dove more into the author space and editor role, the less I felt like book blogging was a space that I could be in. Reviews are for readers, and I didn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable by invading that space as an author myself (even when it’s not my book in discussion). Plus, writing reviews was no longer coming from a reader only, but now coming as a peer, author-to-author.
In short, my dreams came true when I published my debut. But in that dream, I also found the truth that I’ve moved on from the book blogging space.
Moving Forward
It’s bittersweet, for me. I loved this space. But, even if I didn’t have qualms about invading reader spaces as an author (I do) or reviewing my peers work criticially publically (I also do), I just frankly don’t have the space, time or bandwidth for it.
So, all my posts that weren’t related to my writing or my author career were archived. I redesigned this space to not be a book blog, but an author website and landing page. It’ll be a space where I’ll post major announcements, but it won’t be often.
In Sum
So! Thank you all for being there and supporting me during my book blogging era, even if now marks the end of an era. If you’d like to stay in touch or hear from me more, these are the places to do so:
- Socials: for marketing, shitposting and funny stories about my pets (Threads is my most active)
- Patreon: want more than just announcements about my writing, instead looking for behind-the-scenes and early access? Here is where you want to be!
- Newsletter: if you enjoyed my longform mental health musings, personal posts or monthly wrap-ups, this is the space for you!
Thank you all for the memories and wonderful decade of being a book blogger. I love you. 🖤

I’m sad to see your blogging era come to an end, but also excited for you now that it sounds like you’re moving on to something that’s been a dream of yours for so long! Your voice will definitely be missed in the book blogging community, but I wish you all of the best and all of the blessings on your new journey!
I’m sad, too! I am going to miss it so much. *cries* But this has been my dream since I was a kid, so I’m so excited that it’s happening! And thank you so much, Lila. 🖤
Thank you so much, Lila!! It’s such a bittersweet thing, because I loved book blogging so much, but you’re right: I’ve been dreaming about being an author since I was so little, so it’s truly a dream come true. Thanks for being such a highlight during my book blogging days! 🖤
Sad but I totally understand. Work and family commitments caused me to stop a couple years ago. Happy about your other accomplishments though! Good luck with everything in the writing and editing sphere!!
Thanks, Jason. I can’t believe how long we both blogged! Thanks so much, friend. I hope you’re doing well!
I definitely missed your blog when you had to step away! But thank you so much, Jason. I hope you’re doing well! 🖤
all the best for your new and exciting era!
Thanks so much, Sumedha! ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much, Sumedha! 😭
Ahhhhh, here’s to better and bigger things! 🥰 It’s always a bit sad when the community loses a long time book blogger, but it is more heartening when it’s because they’ve moved on to other creative endeavours. Best of luck with all your work going forward. 😊
It’s so weird, too, to have been a vetern in the community, so to speak! I definitely miss it but I am also very excited for all the books I’ll write that’ll hopefully make it into the book blogging spaces on their own, too. 🖤
