Welcome back to another monthly post in my Novels and Narrations blog series! In this series, you get updates on my writing in all facets: from the celebrations and excitements of the high moments, to dealing with imposter syndrome, hopelessness and rejections. Thanks, as always, for caring about my work as a writer and supporting me in this way. β€
Let’s see how the month went, shall we?

As you may have read from last month’s recap, June started two things: orientation season for my day job and draft eight for BLOOD PRICE. I haven’t gotten to work on it as much as I would like (isn’t that the refrain of my life!?). However, I’m about a third of the way through the novel and so stoked with how edits are going!
This round of edits focuses on proofreading: making sure all of the grammar is correct, fixing apostrophes and catching all of the sneaky typos. To be honest, I’ve struggled with this because I’m actually really losing myself in this story and struggling to focus on the craft π€. This is…unheard of, for me. I am just…so bloody proud of how much this story has grown and where it is now. No matter what the outcome come querying in August, I am very proud of this story!
Though, continually getting swept up into the story means I keep having to stop, slow down and reread to make sure the words are properly formatted. π I’m not beating myself up about that, though. I’m still on track to finish this novel by August! And it’s taken some reminders on my part, but I do believe that the writer should always be the one who loves a book first. I’m really happy to see I’m doing that!
I’ve also started using a new technique that I’ve found to be really freaking effective and cool. However, I’m “revealing” what this is in my next newsletter coming out this week (as I also plan for it to be something new I use for freelance editing!). So, shameless plug to go subscribe to find out first! If newsletters aren’t your jam, I promise to talk about it in more detail in an upcoming blog post!

That’s it for this month! I know that was a short update, but with day job kicking my ass and little time for writing, not too much to update on. Hopefully more in my next installment!
My fellow writers, what are you working on? How can I support you? Let me know in the comments and thanks for supporting me in my own journey and reading another installment of Novels and Narrations! β€
YESSS very excited for you!! That’s wonderful that you’re getting lost in your own book! (An excellent problem to have π) I cannot wait to hear more about your new technique, and to see what the new version is like!! <3
Ahhh, thank you so much!! I’m seriously just so excited about it! You’re the best, thank you! <3
