Hello, readers!
Now that the end of June (!!) is here, it’s time to look back at my 2018 Reading Outlook and see how well I’m doing at crossing off all the books I want to read this year off of my To Read list. If you checked out Part One, you know that I didn’t do a great job crossing books off my list, but I did read quite a bit.
I fear these past three months, I fear my tune hasn’t quite changed…

…but I’m actually pleasantly surprised! I’ve crossed off quite a few books since my last update, mostly thanks to rereading all the books I’d read before in the Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica (ironically, I had to switch over to library books right when I reached the point of books in the series that I hadn’t read yet, even though the entire reason to reread the previous five was to help me remember what happened so I could read the last two). I’ve also started working with Orbit Books, in addition to Titan, hence the variation from this list towards more ARCs. I’m still figuring out how to truly balance that, but I’m hopeful to try and start focusing on books in this list, too.
Since my last update, I’ve read the following books:
- Of Silk and Steam by Bec McMaster [review]
- Here, There Be Dragons by James A. Owen [review]
- In Search of the Red Dragon by James A. Owen [review]
- The Indigo King by James A. Owen [review]
- The Shadow Dragon by James A. Owen [review]
- The Dragon’s Apprentice by James A. Owen [review]
- Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston [review]
- The Thousand Deaths of Ardor Benn by Tyler Whitesides [review]
- Warlock Holmes: My Grave Ritual by G.S. Denning [review]
- A Demon in Silver by R.S. Ford [review]
- Season of Storms by Andrzej Sapkowski [review]
- A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe by Alex White [review]
I’m still excited that I’m reading a lot more than I used to (in recent years; I used to read this much, if not more, when I was growing up). I do need to still lessen my time on social media, but hey, we’re making progress and I’m still four books ahead of my reading goal on Goodreads, so overall, I’m counting this as win. For the next three months, I want to focus on balancing between ARCs and “personal” books from this list, so I’m not heavily leaning towards one or the other.
How have your reading goals gone so far? What have been some of your favorite books you’ve read this year? Any books I should definitely make sure I don’t miss from this list (or add to it)? Let me know in the comments below!
