Quest for Balance: Week Nineteen

Hello, lovelies!
It feels like it’s been a hot minute, even though I only missed one week of blogging. But, when someone tells you that you’re going to actually need some recovery time from after getting your wisdom teeth removed, you should totally believe them. Because oof, that was rough.
But, in more exciting news, the countdown to moving has begun (FOUR MORE WEEKS) and our puppy was born on May 1st and we get to meet her on June 15th before getting to take her home on June 29th and I’m just (!!!!!!).
This is also my last week working nights until the end of August and I am so ready to switch to that summer schedule and actually get to see people again.
Now, let’s set some goals for the week, shall we?
happy benedict cumberbatch GIF

Writing: Write two books and edit two books. Query at least one.

  • Last Week’s Goal: N/A.
  • Weekly Goal: Edit 4x.
    • I didn’t get to edit at all last week, but I’m very excited to get back into it this week!

Health: Educate and Execute.

  • Last Week’s Goal: N/A.
  • Weekly Goal: Focus on loving myself.
    • I need to still work on this, but especially more actively work on this. Not sure 100% how, but we’ll get there.

Reading: Make reading a priority. Read 75 books.

  • Last Week’s Goals: N/A.
  • Weekly Goals: Actually read more.
    • Despite still trying to get out of a reading slump, I’m also still really bummed with how much time I waste on social media (especially in the evenings, after my dinner break) instead of spending that time reading. Hoping to actually start working on that habit this week!

Blog: Continue blogging consistently and figuring out my brand.

  • Last Week’s Goals: N/A.
  • Weekly Goal: N/A.

Financial: Frugality and Flexibility.

  • Last Week’s Goals: N/A.
  • Weekly Goals: Pay May bills.

Last Weeks Goals:

  • Respond to emails.
  • Start prepping for end-of-the-semester hecticness.
  • Work on Jeff’s beta reading.
  • Finish last SPFBO book!

Other Weekly Goals:

  • Emails.
  • Start moving prep.
  • Catch up on letters.
  • Finish prepping next interview.
  • Finishing summer schedule for work.
  • Finish Jeff’s final beta.

I’m hoping this week can be much more productive and positive. Though I enjoyed being able to play a lot of video games while I was laid up on pain meds last week, not moving and not having the mental capacity to do anything sucked and I’m really hoping to reset and start focusing on myself again; my health, my craft, my goals and making this life the best that I can. Looking forward to seeing just exactly how that shapes up!
I hope your week is productive, positive and healthy!
Cheers.

Quest for Balance: Week Seventeen

Hello, lovelies!
*still recovering from Endgame, honestly*
i like this one captain marvel GIF by Nerdist.com
After having two weeks in a row where I didn’t have to work on Sunday, working on a Sunday has been…weird and starting off a little bit slow. Hopefully, I’ll get into my groove here soon and start being productive, as it’s going to be another busy week this week!

Writing: Write two books and edit two books. Query at least one.

  • Last Week’s Goal: Edit 4x.
  • Weekly Goal: Edit 4x.
    • I only edited three times last week, but I completely rework two chapters and am starting to make some headway into the actual plot, which is really exciting!

Health: Educate and Execute.

  • Last Week’s Goal: Make positive mental health a priority.
  • Weekly Goal: Focus on loving myself.
    • I need to still work on this, but especially more actively work on this. Not sure 100% how, but we’ll get there.

Reading: Make reading a priority. Read 75 books.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Enjoy Children of Time.
  • Weekly Goals: Finish Children of Time.
    • Got into a bit of a reading slump last week. Hopefully will do much better this week!

Blog: Continue blogging consistently and figuring out my brand.

  • Last Week’s Goals: N/A.
  • Weekly Goal: N/A.

Financial: Frugality and Flexibility.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Make new budget plan.
  • Weekly Goals: Pay May bills.

Last Weeks Goals:

  • Enjoy catching up with friends!
  • DIE EMOTIONALLY FROM WATCHING ENDGAME.
  • Go by library.

Other Weekly Goals:

  • Start prepping for end-of-the-semester hecticness.
  • Work on Jeff’s beta reading.
  • Finish last SPFBO book!

I’m definitely enjoying the fact that the weather has still been positively lovely. And I’m stoked that we’re supposed to get so much rain this week! But with only three more weeks before I go back to working days over the summer, it’s definitely about to be a really busy time, so hoping to make the most of it.
I hope your week is productive, positive and healthy!
Cheers.

Quest for Balance: Week Sixteen

Hello, lovelies!
I’m writing from the future again! Since today is Easter and I’m off celebrating with a ton of different people who I love today, I had to write this post early again or else this post wouldn’t have gone live. Which, honestly, I’m just impressed I remembered to do this two weeks in a row after my normal routine was altered, to be honest.
Spring Easter GIF

Writing: Write two books and edit two books. Query at least one.

  • Last Week’s Goal: Edit 4x.
  • Weekly Goal: Edit 4x.
    • I’m going a lot more slower than I usually do, as I’ve been working for two weeks and only completed two chapters (roughly 11 pages, single spaced) so far. However, I completely rewrote my second chapter and I am actually EDITING (whereas before, I think I would simply line edit and call that editing), so it’s taking more work than I’m used to. But that’s probably one of the greatest victories of all!

Health: Educate and Execute.

  • Last Week’s Goal: Find ways to improve mental health.
  • Weekly Goal: Make positive mental health a priority.
    • I need to still work on this, but especially more actively work on this. Not sure 100% how, but we’ll get there.

Reading: Make reading a priority. Read 75 books.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Finish Trail of Lightning with less than $1.00 worth of fines at the library? Maybe?
  • Weekly Goals: Enjoy Children of Time.
    • Ha, only owe $0.45. *smug smile*

Blog: Continue blogging consistently and figuring out my brand.

  • Last Week’s Goals: N/A.
  • Weekly Goal: N/A.

Financial: Frugality and Flexibility.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Pay off credit card.
  • Weekly Goals: Make new budget plan.
    • Paying that off hurt, but it’s so nice to know that it’s done. *wipes brow*

Last Weeks Goals:

  • Continue working on finding a subleaser.
  • Emails. <— ACTUALLY DID THIS
  • Start beta reading LAND.
  • Muses’s short story?
  • Pick out recipe for girl’s night.

Other Weekly Goals:

  • Enjoy catching up with friends!
  • DIE EMOTIONALLY FROM WATCHING ENDGAME.
  • Go by library.
  • Finish beta reading LAND and send feedback.

Quest for Balance: Week Fifteen

Hello, lovelies!
I’m writing this post on Thursday, even though it’s going live next Sunday (so, hello, future readers!). It’s my boyfriend’s birthday today (if you’re reading this on the 14th, that is), so I took the day off to spend some time with him and I knew I wouldn’t be getting on to do any blogging shenanigans. Still, I wanted to write this post up, so let’s see how those goals went, shall we?
cat GIF by happy-birthday

Writing: Write two books and edit two books. Query at least one.

  • Last Week’s Goal: Edit 5x.
  • Weekly Goal: Edit 4x.
    • I edited four times and I’m counting that as a WIN. “Only” managed to edit 10 pages, however, half of those pages were completely rewritten and this draft is already so much stronger! And I’m a lot happier now that I actually got back into the thick of it again. Coincidence? I think not.

Health: Educate and Execute.

  • Last Week’s Goal: Get in a better mental state.
  • Weekly Goal: Find ways to improve mental health.
    • I think I’m going to stop focusing so much on my physical health and instead focus on my mental health, first. I gotta learn to take care of my mindset and my mind, first, before I start messing around with incorporating a fitness routine. So, wish me luck!

Reading: Make reading a priority. Read 75 books.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Finish Sam Sykes’ novel with heart still intact by the end. Hopefully.
  • Weekly Goals: Finish Trail of Lightning with less than $1.00 worth of fines at the library? Maybe?

Blog: Continue blogging consistently and figuring out my brand.

  • Go to dentist (cries).
  • Start beta reading LAND.
  • Start brainstorming Muses’s short story.

Quest for Balance: Week Fourteen

Hello, lovelies!
Last weekend was such a good one. Boyfriend and I finally had some time to actually spend together after a few hectic weeks of being busy every weekend and we spend that time going on adventures, cooking together and then looting literally everything in Borderlands: The PreSequel. Plus, we got to meet my Mom and brother for lunch and left the window open during a thunderstorm.
It makes me wish the weekend was a little bit longer, but also, ready to go back on the grind this week and start making dreams come true!

I hope your week is productive, positive and healthy!

Quest for Balance: Week Thirteen

Hello, dear readers!
I’m currently sitting at work, in my library that is positively freezing (oh, how I wish that they could regulate the temperature on campus as singular buildings instead of simply one unit) and my body is trying to give off signs of getting sick, which I’m promptly ignoring, because I just CAN’T right now.
But, over the weekend, the breeder called and APPROVED OUR APPLICATION, so we will be OFFICIALLY GETTING OUR GOLDEN RETRIEVER PUPPY AT THE END OF JUNE.
I do apologize that my entire Instagram feed, social media accounts and even most likely this blog, will soon be dedicated to Dovahkiin’s life. I mean, I apologize for it, but I’m not sorry about it, because golden retriever puppies are life and she is going to be EVERYTHING and I JUST HAVE NO CHILL ABOUT IT, OKAY.

And yes, I will probably teach my pup to drive, because she will be a responsible citizen.

This week, not as much on the calendar end of things (I swear, it’s like my weekends have been booked straight for the past month), so I’m excited to have a date-weekend-in with the boyfriend this weekend (and probably play a little too much Borderlands, since that trailer for the third game hyped me up something fierce). Hoping to focus more on what I am doing instead of what I’m not doing, too, as we head into April.
I hope your week is productive, positive and healthy!

Quest for Balance: Week Twelve

Hello, dear readers!
Ah, what a week.
I covered for my boss last week, which meant I worked two night shifts and three day shifts, and I still don’t think my body is fully adjusted either way. Though I miss working days and the benefits those shifts have, I’m excited to work nights this week and get back into a routine a little bit more. Plus, with this spring weather (happiness forever, because that seasonal depression was real this year), things are looking up, even if they are really busy!

Writing: Write two books and edit two books. Query at least one.

  • Last Week’s Goal:  Brainstorm 4x and finish prep work.
  • Weekly Goal: Finish prep work.
    • Didn’t work on this at all this week. *sigh* BUT, I did sign up for Camp NaNoWriMo this April, with the goal of finishing the next round of edits, which means I HAVE to finish my prep work and editing gameplan by this time next week. Fingers crossed I’ll actually make this a priority this week!

Health: Educate and Execute.

  • Last Week’s Goal:  Workout 4x.
  • Weekly Goal: Workout 4x.
    • Didn’t go to the gym at all thanks to a healing tattoo (and excuses) but did walk to work during the days I worked…well, days, so at least I wasn’t a complete sloth.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Read. <3

    • Last week, I had to read a lot for SPFBO and for my Tolkien Society meeting, so I didn’t really get to read for fun. Hoping to read for fun a little more this week.

I finished my sleeve last week and it’s healing up really nicely! I’m just in love with it (especially since it took over a year and half to complete). The boyfriend is working on his sleeve this weekend and I’m really excited to see what he adds. Also playing my last DnD session this weekend for the foreseeable future and celebrating my brother’s 17th (!!) birthday on Tuesday, plus Shadow’s 5th birthday. It’ll be a busy week, for sure, but a good one.
I hope your week is productive, positive and healthy!

Quest for Balance: Week Eleven

Hello, dear readers!
The highs throughout the entire week are supposed to be in the 50s and the 60s.
It’s here.
It’s finally here.
pokemon episode spring GIF
(Almost) even better than that, at the end of last week, my boyfriend and I got approved for the duplex we really wanted and we already signed our lease, so we are officially moving this summer. And it has a FENCED IN YARD which means I can *finally* get a puppy and give her the life she deserves, i.e., a yard to run in instead of a tiny apartment where she has so space.
Let’s just say my heart is full, friends.

Writing: Write two books and edit two books. Query at least one.

  • Last Week’s Goal:  Continue figuring out the details of the culture. 5x.
  • Weekly Goal: Brainstorm 4x and finish prep work.
    • Though I only got to work on this three times instead of the five I was hoping for, I did make a lot of really good progress and I feel like I’m only a few hours-of-solid-work away from being able to dive into the manuscript again with a fresh perspective and a solid gameplan. I am very excited.

Health: Educate and Execute.

  • Last Week’s Goal:  Workout 4x.
  • Weekly Goal: Workout 4x.
    • I only made it to the gym twice last week, but since my schedule was adjusted, I did walk to and from work every day and made an extra effort to walk and complete my errands instead of driving there. It was a solid week of staying active!

Reading: Make reading a priority. Read 75 books.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Read more (actually).
  • Weekly Goals: Read. <3
    • Read a lot for SPFBO and for beta reading, not so much in the for-pleasure department. Hoping to read for fun a little more this week.

Blog: Continue blogging consistently and figuring out my brand.

  • Last Week’s Goals: N/A.
  • Weekly Goal: N/A.

Financial: Frugality and Flexibility.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Put money into savings.
  • Weekly Goals: Pay lease deposit.

Last Weeks Goals:

  • Actually catch up on emails.
  • Get halfway done editing beta reading.
  • Fill in for my boss over spring break.
  • Finish sleeve (!!).
  • Continue reading for Tolkien Society meeting.

Other Weekly Goals:

  • Actually actually get caught up on emails.
  • Finish Jo’s book and send her feedback.
  • Write and post Muses’s short story.
  • Mail puppy application.
  • Make March Madness Bracket.
  • Get brother’s birthday present.
  • Finish reading for Tolkien Society meeting.

Not only is the weather finally looking up and I’m starting to get into the groove again, but it is MARCH MADNESS TIME. I haven’t been looking forward to it as much as I usually do, as my ‘hawks have been having a bit of a growth year this year, but I’m still hopeful we can make a deep run in the tournament and excited to fill out a bracket and watch the upset begin to unfold. Plus, I finished filling in my sleeve last weekend, so I’m definitely stoked for this sucker to heal and finally be able to show of photos of this beaut!
I hope your week is productive, positive and healthy!
Cheers.

Quest for Balance: Week Ten

Hello, dear readers!
Still pretty behind on everything, but I’m healthy, so that’s a major plus. Last week, I still didn’t work out, despite both planning to and having the time. Despite my change in schedule this week (since it’s spring break, I get to work a normal hour schedule instead of my usual evening shift), I plan to work out after work and I’m pretty excited about it. I’m also hoping that the weather takes a turn for spring, instead of winter hanging on without abandon, because I just really want it to be spring and glorious weather and to stop taking ten minutes to put on or remove layers coming to and from work.
Spring April GIF by SpongeBob SquarePants

Writing: Write two books and edit two books. Query at least one.

  • Last Week’s Goal: Work on fleshing out history and backstory 4x this week.
  • Weekly Goal: Continue figuring out the details of the culture. 5x.
    • It took writing this blog post to finally beat my own brain and start working on this. And I had a major break through that not only makes my story make sense, but helps elevate it to an entirely different level, so I’m really stoked about making that progress and can’t wait to start incorporating these ideas into the actual manuscript. I only worked on it twice last week, so I’m hoping to work on it five times this week. I’m not sure how long it’ll take to flesh out the details, but my main focus: continue pushing forward without rushing it.

Health: Educate and Execute.

  • Last Week’s Goal: Workout 4x. Eat well.
  • Weekly Goal: Workout 4x.
    • Despite being really excited to get back in the gym last week, I got lazy and decided to sleep in and play Kingdom Hearts III, instead. Definitely planning on making it a priority, this week. I miss how productive and how happy I am on days when I work out.

Reading: Make reading a priority. Read 75 books.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Read more!
  • Weekly Goals: Read more (actually).
    • Though I had a lot to catch up on, I’m still not reading nearly as much as I hoped I would and definitely spending way too much time scrolling through social media late at night. I have too many good books to read to continue doing that.

Blog: Continue blogging consistently and figuring out my brand.

  • Last Week’s Goals: N/A.
  • Weekly Goal: N/A.

Financial: Frugality and Flexibility.

  • Last Week’s Goals: Pay bills.

  • Go to various house showings.

Other Weekly Goals:

  • Get halfway done editing beta reading.
  • Fill in for my boss over spring break.
  • Finish sleeve (!!).
  • Continue reading for Tolkien Society meeting.

Quest for Balance: Week Nine

Hello, dear readers!
Wow, am I so behind.
Last Sunday, I woke up nauseous–a feeling that didn’t go away until yesterday, a week later, forcing me to sleep and stay in bed for a week straight. It sounds nice if one was feeling fine, but when you’re feeling like shit and can’t do anything, it really, really sucks (but definitely makes you appreciate it when you’re healthy). Add on the fact that I just made my To-Do list for this week, which is basically two weeks slammed into one, and I’m just trying to do my best to not fall into sickness again thanks to all the stress.
