*while reading The Blinding Knife*
Like, I love a lot of writers, right? I can appreciate an amazing story, a well-written tale. When I fall in love with a book, I’ll definitely scream to the rooftops about it and let everyone else know exactly how I feel and hope I can convince them to read it, too. I grow attached to characters easily and it’s not too hard to please or impress me.
But Weeks? This story?
Holy shit. It’s just on another level.

- But I can say that Kip is an absolute gem and I would die for him. Teia deserves so much better and I would fight for her. Karris is everything to me. Gavin is incredible. Ironfist I still have a soft spot for and the White is just amazing. I can appreciate Andross Guile as much as I can also hate him (but fuck Grinwoody all to hell). And I really, really enjoyed seeing Kip grow and being there with him during his time during the Blackguard training, trials and tryouts.
- Also, I forgot how much happened and there are so many little details and scenes and moments that just completely shocked me and moved me and impressed me. The way Weeks is able to navigate and interweave multiple plotlines between chapters is legendary. This novel also had the scene that I hated so much, I almost stopped rereading it because I didn’t want to experience it again, because I just want these two characters and their relationship to work SO BADLY and this scene just…GAH. (And it sucked just as much to read it the second time, thanks for asking.)
- But that ending? Holy FUCK, did I forget about that ending and just how much it hurts. And how much The Broken Eye hurts. Everything hurts and yet I am so happy.

The Blinding Knife is incredible. I just…I love these books so much. I love these characters. I love this world and how amazing of a writer and storyteller Brent Weeks is. I’m so grateful to be able to read it and so excited that I only have two books left before I can finally experience The Burning White for the first time.
And with that, I’m gonna go back to reading, if you don’t mind. ๐

So you’re saying I should read this series?๐
Ahhhhhhhhh, Tammy, YES.
I loved the first two, and waited eagerly for the third, and then, when it came out, somehow…just never got round to reading it. And now there are five, all massive books, and it just seems like an awful lot of catching up to do. I’m guessing you’d say it was totally worth it, though?
Oh, almost all the series I have on my bookshelf fall into that scenario! Personally, rereading this series was totally worth it to me, because there is just so many details that I didn’t want to forget by reading a summary. But, I think if you’re comfortable with the main summary of major plot points, you can’t go wrong there, either!
