Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! Once hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, it is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It’s a weekly book feature where a topical list-prompt is posted and readers respond with their top ten for that prompt. Yours truly tends to go over ten, but hey, what can a passionate reader do?
This week’s topic is: Most Anticipated Releases For the First Half of 2019
And oh boy, do I have some.
Then, of course, half of the books I’m am most eagerly anticipating are coming out after June, so I couldn’t add them to this list. Then, I drew a blank, as one does when making a listed post, so I had to go with the first books off the top of my head. Then, double checking publisher listings, for some reason, I can’t access Orbit’s site at the time of working on this, so I know I’m missing some books for them. There also might be books I’m excited for, but I’ve just, ah, still haven’t read the first book yet (oops), so I still have some catching up to do.
BUT! That doesn’t mean I’m not ridiculously excited for these books. Check them out below:
Nightchaser by Amanda Bouchet — Released January 1st: This is the book I’m desperately waiting for the library to pull through for me, as it’s my most anticipated romance read of the year. I adored Bouchet’s fantasy, Greek Mythology inspired trilogy and I’m so thrilled to see what she does with the sci-fi genre.
The Gutter Prayer by Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan — Releases January 22nd: I first discovered this book through the gorgeous cover. Then I read the blurb. Finally seeing it was coming from Orbit, I knew I was going to fall in love. I’ve only read the prologue so far and guess what? I’m already in love.
Never Die by Rob J. Hayes — Releases January 29th: Again, fell in love with the cover and I already wanted to read some of Hayes earlier works. It’s one of my lowkey goals to read more self published fantasy (thanks for helping me get into it, SPFBO!) and this book is definitely going to help me do just that.
The Ruin of Kings by Jenn Lyons — Releases February 5th: I’ve been on this hype train ever since I knew this hype train even existed. I’m a fan of Lyons agent and I trust any book he puts out. Being compared to greats like Sanderson and Rothfuss and being a woman, I am so hoping she is one of the next big names in fantasy. I want more role models!
Fleet of Knives by Gareth Powell — Releases February 19th: Needed to get some sci-fi on this list and I am definitely stoked for Powell’s next installment in this series, as I most definitely enjoyed the first book and I can’t get enough of this cover.
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon — Releases February 26th: To be honest, this is the book I know the least about. I’ve never read the author before, but I keep seeing people talk about this book and the author telling readers to give it a chance, despite it’s size. Well, I always love me big books, the cover I adore, the title is interesting and there are dragons. So I’m here for this.
The Unbound Empire by Melissa Caruso — Releases April 25th: Um, so I was really lucky to beta read the first two books in this series, so I knew this series was going to take the genre by storm before anyone else (and oh boy, that was one of the coolest experiences of my life). Yet I actually haven’t read how it all ends and you can bet there is no one waiting more eagerly than me to find out what happens!!
Fear the Stars by Christopher Husberg — Releases June 4th: I just adore this series and I’m so surprised it’s not getting more hype? Because it most definitely should be getting more hype. With three books down and only two more to go, I have a feeling the momentum is going to continue to pick up and I’m definitely eager to find out exactly how Husberg does it.
Just looking at all the wonderful books in this list, 2019 is going to be a pretty stellar year in books. Pile on top of these all the books I want to read that have already been published (not to mention the fantastic line up to round out the year) and it’s a good thing one of my main goals is to read more this year. I already don’t have enough time as it is.
Link me your lists below in the comments and let me know what you think of mine! Are these books on your TBR lists? What books am I shamefully missing? Hit me up in the comments!
