Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! Once hosted by The Broke and The Bookish, it is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It’s a weekly book feature where a topical list-prompt is posted and readers respond with their top ten for that prompt. Yours truly tends to go over ten, but hey, what can a passionate reader do?
This week’s topic is: Most Anticipated Reads From the Second Half of 2019
I could list half of these books off the top of my head, THAT’S how excited I am to read them (this is especially relevant since I have a shit memory 95% of the time). And this isn’t even all the books I know are going to try to break my wallet on top of my TBR list in the next six months! The publishing gods have truly blessed us.
Oh, and I’m pretty sure all of these should be on your TBR list, too. You’re welcome. 😉
Wanderers by Chuck Wendig (July 9th): I already have this one on hold at the library. I’ve only read one of Wendig’s previous books (Invasive), but I devour his blog religiously and if this book freaks me out in any way like King’s The Stand did…well, let’s just say I’ll be both impressed and thoroughly freaked out.
The Unlikely Escape of Uriah Heep by H.G. Parry (July 23rd): THIS BOOK JUST SOUNDS SO GOOD AND I CANNOT WAIT (plus, I think it could be a potential comp for one of the series I’m working on, so bonus there, yeah, because I can never figure out a good comp for it).
Shatter the Sky by Rebecca Kim Wells (July 30th): A few bloggers I respect turned me onto this book and then I read the words “girlfriends” and “stealing dragons” in the blurb, so now, it’s definitely on my radar.
The Bone Ships by R.J. Barker (September 24th): I WILL READ ANYTHING BARKER WRITES AND THAT’S A FACT.
War Girls by Tochi Onyebuchi (October 15th): Um, can we just look at this cover for a second and just collapse at it’s beauty? I have every confidence the writing is going to wow me just as much.
The Burning White by Brent Weeks (October 22nd): My most anticipated read OF ALL YEAR. I think I’ve waited two years for this novel and I am about to reread the series to prep and finally learn how it ends!?!? I am just…*collapses into a sobbing mess*
The Name of All Things by Jenn Lyons (October 29th): After I loved the first book so absolutely much, I am positively thrilled that the second installment is coming out so quickly!
Queen of the Conquered by Kacen Alexander (November 12th): Ever since this book was announced, I knew I absolutely HAD to read it. The cover. The premise. It’s from Orbit. This is going to be a winnner, I just know it.
Realm of Ash by Tasha Suri (November 12th): I haven’t read the first book yet
Blood of Empire by Brian McClellan (December 3rd): After binge reading the previous five books in this universe, you bet I am SO NOT READY to read this last installment (even though I am oh so excited to see what happens next).
*exhausted from screaming about these books so much*
*collapses on top of countdown calendar*
*disappears in plume of smoke*
Read on!
Ooh, yeah! War Girls looks amazing.
My TTT.
Soo many good books to come!

I’m so excited about Wanderers! I also need to get my hands on a copy of The Bone Ships😁
I haven’t heard about any of these. Thanks for putting them on my radar. Here’s My Top Ten Tuesday
I’ve got so many ARCs and TBR flags for the fall right now it’s crazy. I’m really looking forward to WAR GIRLS and to the confusion that NAME OF ALL THINGS will likely drop on my brain. Do I have any idea who is related to who anymore? No. Did I slam the request button as soon as I saw it on Edelweiss? Absolutely.
And don’t forget, Rebecca Roanhorse has a Star Wars book in November!!!
I’m really excited for War Girls!
I know, me too! I’m hoping it’s a great one!
Oh my gosh, The Unlikely Escape of Uriah Heep IS A BOOK ABOUT BOOKS! I love those! I hadn’t heard of this one before, but now I’m excited! Thanks for bringing it to my attention! 💛
Ooooh, I hope you enjoy it! I’ve heard nothing but good thing, so I’m pretty stoked to check it out. I would love to hear what you think of it, if you end up reading it. <3
I’ve never read anything by Chuck Wendig, but I think I need to start!
Oh gosh, he has so much! I am definitely behind reading his works, so I definitely want to. But his blog, ohmygosh yes, if you don’t follow it, you totally should: terribleminds.com.
Ahh what a lovely list, thank you for making me discover so many books! I’ve seen Queen of the Conquered around and I have to say, I’m intrigued… I’m also LOVING that cover so much! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on all of these beauties 🙂
I know, right!? That conquer is just…the unique color choice and the contrast with the white…it’s just stunning. Aww, thank you! Hopefully I’ll read them all this year and not fall behind like I usually do. 😛
Yeah, it does seem like most of my most anticipated reads of 2019 fall in the second half of the year as well! Of these, I’m really looking forward to The Bone Ships and Blood of Empire!
They both are going to be SO GOOD, I am just so stoked to read them.
I WANT THE BONE SHIPS. YES, I AM SHOUTING 😀
I WILL SHOUT FOREVER ABOUT BONE SHIPS, LET’S DO IT TOGETHER.
OOH, SO MANY OF THESE SOUND FANTASTIC. And you’re right–the cover for War Girls is too beautiful for words and I NEED IT RIGHT NOW.
Right!?!? The second half of the year is going to be SO AWESOME.
